The Anime “Demon Slave” Will Premiere on January 4th

The highly anticipated anime series “Demon Slave,” based on the acclaimed manga by Takahiro and Youhei Takemura, has announced its premiere date: January 4th, 2024. This announcement was made via the X platform, formerly known as Twitter. Originally scheduled to launch in 2023, this anime promises to be a major event in the industry. Japanese viewers will be able to enjoy the series on various television networks, including AT-X, Tokyo MX, BS-Asahi, and MBS.

The overall direction of the project is led by Junji Nishimura, renowned for his work on “Ranma ½.” He is joined by Gorō Kuji, who has worked on “Bungo and Alchemist -Gears of Judgement-” and is now directing this project at Seven Arcs studio, famous for productions like “Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha,” “White Album,” and “Trinity Seven.” The series’ script is a collaboration between Ryōta Kanō and Akira Kindaichi, known for their work on “Bakugan Battle Planet,” with Yasuhiro Nakanishi from “Kaguya-sama: Love is War” leading the series composition.

Character design is handled by Hiroyuki Yoshii, who worked on “Tawawa on Monday,” and Kaoru Nishimura, known for “Trinity Seven: Eternal Library & Alchemic Girl,” is in charge of color design. In the musical aspect, Kohta Yamamoto, who has created soundtracks for series such as “86 – EIGHTY-SIX,” “Attack on Titan: The Final Season,” and the third and fourth seasons of “Kingdom,” is the musical composer. Chikako Yokota, known for her work on “The Seven Deadly Sins: Imperial Wrath of The Gods,” is the sound director.

  • Akari Kitō portrays Kyōka Uzen.
  • Yume Miyamoto brings to life Himari Azuma.
  • Mari Hino is the voice of Shushu Suruga.

  • Maaya Uchida takes on the role of Tenka Izumo, the leader of the sixth squad.
  • Nene Hieda plays Yachiho Azuma, Himari‘s sister and executive officer of the 6th Squadron.
  • Reina Ueda handles the character Sahara Wakasa, the carefree member of the 6th Squadron.

The manga “Demon Slave” was launched by Takahiro and Takemura in January 2019 on Shūeisha‘s Shonen Jump+ website. The series continues to be published, with 14 compiled volumes to date. The most recent, the fourteenth, was released in Japanese bookstores on October 4th.

The plot of “Demon Slave” centers on Yûki Wakura, who becomes the slave of Kyôka, one of the leaders of the Anti-Demon Brigade, in a dystopian world where doors to a parallel world unleash monsters threatening humanity. In this universe, only women can acquire superpowers through peaches, a magical fruit, and thus protect men from these dangerous beings.

This anime promises to be a faithful and exciting adaptation of the manga, bringing to the screen a story filled with action, fantasy, and memorable characters. With a talented production team and a stellar cast, “Demon Slave” is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated releases of the year in the anime world.
