An update has been shared by Netflix regarding the upcoming Hollywood live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece manga. The update includes a message from the original creator and executive producer, Oda, who confirms that the series is still on track to premiere in 2023. However, he emphasizes that it will only be released once he is fully satisfied with the final product, and assures fans that all parties involved are working together seamlessly. Oda also clarifies that the series will consist of eight episodes, contrary to the initial report of ten episodes.

The upcoming live-action series of One Piece will be exclusively available on Netflix. The series is being produced by Tomorrow Studios, a collaboration between producer Marty Adelstein (known for Prison Break and Teen Wolf) and ITV Studios. The show’s writer is Matt Owens, who has worked on projects such as Luke Cage and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Meanwhile, Steven Maeda and Becky Clements are serving as executive producers.

One Piece Live-Action Cast

In the upcoming live-action adaptation of One Piece, the lead role of Monkey D. Luffy will be played by Inaki Godoy, while Mackenyu will play Roronoa Zoro, and Emily Rudd will portray Nami. Jacob Romero Gibson has been cast as Usopp, Taz Skylar as Sanji, and Morgan Davies as Koby. Ilia Isorelýs Paulino will play the role of Alvida, Aidan Scott as Helmeppo, McKinley Belcher III as Arlong, Vincent Regan as Garp, and Peter Gadiot as Shanks. Alexander Maniatis has been cast as Klahadore, Steven Ward as Mihawk, Craig Fairbrass as Chef Zeff, Langley Kirkwood as Captain Morgan, Celeste Loots as Kaya, and Chioma Umeala as Nojiko. Additionally, Colton Osorio has been cast as a young Monkey D. Luffy.

During the 2017 Jump Festa event, Adelstein shared a video message in which he revealed that the series will follow the East Blue arc and expand from there. He also mentioned that the project has the blessing of Oda, and promised to deliver “a true One Piece” to fans.
