The eighth issue of Hakusensha’s Young Animal magazine, released on Friday, announced that the highly anticipated 42nd volume of Kentarou Miura’s “Berserk” manga will be available in Japan on September 29. What makes it even more special is that a special edition of the volume will come with a Guts figure, a beloved character from the series.
Berserk Manga New Volume Coming Officially On September 29
Furthermore, the magazine revealed that there will be a new chapter of “Berserk” in the combined ninth and 10th issue, set to release on April 28.
After the tragic passing of Miura on May 6, 2021, due to acute aortic dissection, the manga went on hiatus. However, it resumed in Young Animal in June 2022, now credited as “Original work by Kentarou Miura, manga by Studio Gaga, supervised by Kouji Mori.” Studio Gaga is Miura’s studio, consisting of his assistants and apprentices who had worked with him on “Berserk.” Mori, a close childhood friend of Miura’s, was frequently consulted by Miura for plot details on the series. In June 2022, Mori stated that he knows the story of “Berserk” up to the very end. Mori also drew a one-shot manga in Young Animal in 2021, sharing his story of a lifelong friendship and creative relationship with Miura.
The 41st volume of “Berserk,” which includes the final chapters that Miura had created for the series, was released in Japan in December 2021. Dark Horse Comics published the volume in November 2022, allowing fans worldwide to continue to enjoy the legacy of Miura’s iconic manga.
